Models of Treatment

Family-based Intervention for Children. Procedures developed by the late Lena Rustin and her staff of the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children in London, England form the basis for treatment. Long-term follow-up results reveal that approximately 80% of the families seen in this model no longer need speech therapy for stuttering.

Treatment Models for Adults. My experience with stuttering modification and fluency shaping allows me to discuss various therapeutic options.

Internet Procedures. The Internet can be used in all treatment programs. Examples can be found at the Links tab.

Biblical Approach. The Bible contains considerable information on helping individuals cope with problems such as stuttering. For those who come from a faith background, scripture can be used as the basis for treatment. An example of this approach can be found at the Links tab.

Consultation Services. I am asked frequently about which therapy approaches or “new” ideas in treatment are appropriate. Do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance in this area. My goal is to help you find the most appropriate model of treatment.

I also work with school districts on implementing family-based clinical procedures with all communication disorders. Clinical caseloads in schools are reduced by implementing this model of treatment.
